We are starting a course on Technology and Teaching and Learning. Since we are a large group with the same interest for technology, it is important that you share here some information about you, such as your expections, your experience with teaching and with technology use. So use this forum to introduce yourselves.

In addition, also fill in some information about you in your profle. For that, go to your name on the top right, click on 'profile', on 'edit prfile', and use the field 'description'. Also add a picture. Click on 'update profile'.

Hello, everyone! How are you doing? wink

My name is Tatiana and I'm a Ph.D. student at PPGI. My advisor is Professor Lêda and, of course, my area of research is reading. I have been an English teacher since 2001 (feeling old). In this course, I would like to become acquainted with up-to-date technology to be used in the classroom.

See you on Monday!

Hi, people!

Hope you are all well.

My name is Pierre and I'm from Rio Grande, RS. I am a master's degree student at PPGL - FURG. I've been teaching English and Portuguese for about 15 years and I am really interested in technologies for teaching purposes. I hope we all have a great course and, personally, I want to have more theoretical readings on the topic of this course.

See you!

Hello, everyone

My name is Luana and I am a doctoral student at PPGI as well. I have been teaching English for about 8 years, and during this period 2020 was definetly very challenging in terms of adaptation and modernisation. I believe that due to the recent events, the relationship between teaching and technology tends to be more developed, and this is one of the reasons I am interested in this discipline, because it will be positive for both my academic interests and also to my teaching methodologies.

See you soon big grin

Hey there, everyone!

My name is William, but you can call me Will. I am enrolled in this course as a special student, but I will be a regular MA student in 2021-01. I have been teaching English since 2014 and Spanish since 2019. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a programmer for five years and I hold an undergrad in Software Analysis and Development and another one in Letras (FURB - Blumenau). I have always been keen on technology, so I want to know the most recent tools and relevant discussions on this topic.

See you soon!

Hi, everyone!

My name is João Luiz Coelho, I am a first-year MA student (until the end of this semester!) being advised by professor Mailce Mota. I am studying the interface between language and numerical cognition, which is something I am really excited about!

Also, I am an English teacher since 2019 and one of the things I love to do is to look for new resources that I can include in my classes. Currently, I am obsessed with a fairly simple tool: It is a randomizer that helps a lot with classroom dynamics, especially in the remote teaching/learning era that we are living in right now.

Looking forward to a great course!

Hello guys!

My name is Janaina, and I’m a first-year MA student here at PPGI. I’m Professor Hanna’s advisee and my area of interest is L2 speech acquisition. I’m not currently working, but I have taught English for about 5 years, and I think it's fundamental to be acquainted with the proper use of technology in class. Therefore, I’m also eager to learn more about theoretical discussions and new resources.

See you on Monday! smile

I'm Flávia from Joinville, S.C. I've been teaching English for a long time, almost 30 years. In this course, I'm a special student, but in 2021/1 I'll start as a regular PhD student. When I started teaching, in the early 90's, top technology devices were mimeographs and tape recorders... Does anyone in this group remember those times?! rsrsrs...

I've heard from Professor Celso from a friend from PPGI who told me about her research on digital storytelling, shared some articles with me and I got really interested in this topic.

Besides, nowadays, our life is online, thus, this course seems to be essential to improve my pedagogical practice. And this is, basically, my main expectation: I want to learn more and have a solid theoretical basis for my practice.

I'm looking forward to seeing you on Monday!   smile

I'm excited about this course! Nice to meet you all (and nice to see some of you again!)

See you on Monday!!

Hello everyone!

My name is Fernanda and I'm currently in my second semester of the MA. My research is related to L2 vocabulary learning and its relation to phonological awareness.

I have been teaching since 2018 and technology has been part of basically every class I've taught. I think it is going to be very useful to discuss these issues so I can start to make use of the technology available more consciously.

See you all tomorrow! smile

Good morning, everyone!

I'm a Phd student at PPGI and my advisor is professor Celso. We have been working together since my MA, when I analyzed apps developed for pronunciation instruction. Technology always played an important role in language classroom for me, both as a student and as a teacher, so I have always been fascinated about this area.

See you all this afternoon!

Hello, everyone

It is good to be here with you.

My name is Andréia and I'm a Ph.D Candidate. I'm professor Adriana's advisee and my research is focused on teacher education.

I've been teaching English since 2002 and I've recently started working (again) as a pedagogical coordinator in a language institute here in Florianópolis.

I'm really excited to start this course since I am a technology enthusiast and I love using it in my classes - even though I believe I could make better use of the tools we have available.

Hello everybody! How's everybody doing?

My name is Mauricio, I am thirty years old and I have been working as an English Teacher for more than 10 years now. I have always been a language enthusiast and have always loved technology, so being able to connect both is something I am really interested about.

I am really looking forward to attending this course and starting my Master's as Professor Celso's advisee this upcoming semester. I will be researching about how technology, mainly mobile apps, can assist learners on vocabulary acquisition.

I do hope we all can share our passion for teaching in this course and learn a lot from that!

Hope you all have a great week!

Hello everyone!

It was great to take part in today's session!

My name is Daniele Mizuta, but you can call me Dani. I am enrolled in this course as a special student. I've been teaching English for over 15 years, and I believe this will be an opportunity to reflect on my relationship with technological resources and improve my skills on this topic as an English teacher.

My business partner (Marcella Barontini) and I are excited to be taking this course together, as we seek to test and implement new technological practices with our students. We are also looking forward to knowing you all better and learning through our meaningful interactions!

Hello, everyone! I hope you are all doing well!

My name is Marcella Barontini and I have recently graduated (2019) in Languages at UNIVALI - Universidade do Vale do Itajaí. I have been working as an English teacher since my first year of undergraduate course and my desire to return to academic studies along with the challenging pandemic year we have faced, led me to enroll in this course as a special student.

My business partner (Daniele Mizuta) is also enrolled in this course so we can develop a greater knowledge and skills in this subject together. In this sense, I have big expectations concerning this course and the opportunity of my professional and academic growth.

Happy to be here, thank you Professor Celso for this first meeting!
